(in)ternational poetry month // mes de la poesía
eng // yesterday was world poetry day and it got me thinking about tightening my poetry writing practice. lately, i haven't been writing any. next month is "national" poetry month in gringolandia.
although i ain't no gringo, i have participated in escapril and napowrimo in the past, i do think it is a colonial concept. it was created by the academy of american poets who seem to believe "america" means the united states of america. well, i live in méxico, which is in the americas too.
that noted, i thought this year i could subvert the gringo focus and still participate in using "their" month to help me find my poetry writing rhythm again. i will write and publish some short form poems here, on this page. i will tag them #amonthofpoetry. some will be in english and some in spanish. as a subversive decolonial act, i will also highlight mexican and latinx poets.

esp // ayer fue el día mundial de la poesía y me puso a pensar en retomar mi práctica de escritura. últimamente no he escrito nada. el próximo mes es el mes "nacional" de la poesía allá en gringolandia.
aunque yo no soy gringo, he participado en escapril y napowrimo antes, igual creo que es un concepto bastante colonial. lo creó la academia de poetas americanos, que al parecer cree que "america" significa los estados unidos de america. pues yo vivo en méxico, que también está en las américas.
dicho eso, este año pensé en subvertir el enfoque gringo y de todos modos aprovechar "su" mes para reencontrar mi ritmo como poeta. voy a escribir y publicar algunos poemas cortos aquí, en esta página. los voy a etiquetar #unmesdepoesía. algunos en inglés, otros en español. y como acto subversivo y decolonial, también voy a destacar a poetas mexicanos y latinx.
